Risto Karajkov

Risto Karajkov is a PhD student in international development at the University of Bologna in Italy. He worked for three and a half years as a grants officer with the Balkan Children and Youth Foundation (BCYF) in Skopje Macedonia. BCYF is a partner of the International Youth Foundation (IYF) from Baltimore and is a regional grant maker in Southeast Europe operating under the Chairmanship of the former Finish President Martti Ahtisaari.
In the past, Mr. Karajkov has worked for the Italian relief and development organization Italian Consortium of Solidarity. He did his masters in local development at the University of Trento in Italy specializing in youth employment from an NGO perspective.
Mr. Karajkov is based in Florence and cooperates with several web portals focusing on civil society in the Balkans including One World South East Europe, Osservatorio sui Balcani, Transitions Online, Charity Channel, etc. He writes frequently on topics relating to the nonprofit sector and the Balkans, and has extensive experience in diverse aspects of nonprofit work, such as, training, capacity building, fundraising and working with donors, and grantmaking.
